1908-S $10 MS62 PCGS. Writing in 1988, Walter Breen tells of two small hoards of 1908-S Indian Eagles that, in his opinion, account for many of the Mint State survivors in today's market. The first of these hoards surfaced in the 1940s, the second was repatriated from Europe in the 1970s. We feel obligated, however, to remind bidders that the '08-S is a low mintage (59,850 pieces) issue that is still a significant rarity in all Mint State grades. For the fortunate collector who is able to locate an Uncirculated survivor, the coin that they will be holding will certainly be among the most attractive of all Indian Eagles in the market. The 1908-S is a very well produced issue, and the present BU quality survivor displays an overall sharp strike and a pleasingly frosted, finely granular finish. The reddish-gold features are possessed of no more than the expected number of bagmarks for the MS62 grade level. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour.
