<B>1908 "Our Home Team" Chicago White Sox Accordion Postcard.</B></I> Only five teams from this highly collectible series are known to exist--both Chicago teams, both St. Louis teams, and the Detroit Tigers. Here we present the Chicago Americans, who finished just a game and a half back of Ty Cobb's pennant-winning Tigers the year of the postcard's issue. The standard vintage baseball equipment and game image that appears on all five teams' cards fills the background, with the flap reading "Our Home Team" opening to reveal a hinged ribbon of paper picturing sixteen members of the formidable squad, notably Hall of Fame pitcher Ed Walsh, Jiggs Donahue and Doc White. A schedule of home games rises between the player images and the top flap. The design of the postcard necessitates bending it at center to free the folded ribbon of player images from the cardboard ridge that holds it in place, and as such there is a heavy crease here. Wear at the edges and corner rounding is also to be expected for this ancient rarity, and a tiny bit of paper loss at center left must be noted for accuracy. The card is postally unused.
