1908 $5 MS66 PCGS. 1908 was the last year that two different designs of the same gold denomination were issued for circulation. The Liberty type, the last stand of Gobrecht's once-ubiquitous motifs, was phased out in favor of Bela Lyon Pratt's incused Indian design. The reverse was similar to Saint-Gaudens' Indian eagle, but the neck was better proportioned, and the two mottos (IN GOD WE TRUST and E PLURIBUS UNUM) were switched, a necessity due to the width of PLURIBUS.
This boldly impressed and nicely lustrous piece is attractively preserved, since the only apparent imperfection is a hair-thin graze through the inner point of star 3. Population: 16 in 66, 1 finer (10/06).

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
