<B>1908 $5 MS65 PCGS.</B></I> The present lot combines the popularity of a first-year issue with the conditionally challenging status of the Indian half eagle series. In terms of total number of pieces known, the 1908 is actually one of the more common issues in this series. High quality representatives, however, are scarce and always in demand among both date and type collectors. This lovely Gem displays lustrous, satiny surfaces that are free of all but the most trivial abrasions. The strike is uncommonly bold for the design with full headdress and feather definition. With original orange-gold coloration, this is a difficult 1908 half eagle to surpass in terms of both technical and aesthetic appeal.
