As is the case with the other Barber denominations, the dimes were not widely saved in the earliest years after their mintage, as most collectors of the day preferred proofs. Today's numismatist prefers matched sets of these coins, either collecting only the proof issues, or seeking out all date and mintmark issues in business strike form.
