The comments below are from Doug Black, a friend, fellow collector, and enthusiastic observer on several of Mr. Tarzian's restoration projects, including this one.

“Francis was granted permission from Harrah's Automobile Collection 'to go behind the ropes’ to take photos and measurements of the original Schacht in the Harrah collection. With micrometers and camera in hand, Francis spent many hours documenting the original dimensions to ensure the authentic perfection of his restoration. Francis completely restored the radiator using a jig he designed and built, hand soldering all 330 radiator tubes. In addition, with a personally designed and built jig, he hand-formed the multi-layer wooden fenders. (Note that many "restored" Schachts are missing the fenders.)

Francis researched and obtained the correct Dietz Dainty side lamps: these are a real rarity and hard to find. (Many other "restored" Schachts just substitute any period lamp.) He also hand-built a correct copper oiler can for the engine compartment; it alone is a work of art. This automobile won the coveted AACA Presidents Cup in 1988, which recognized the best, highest quality, most authentic restoration of the year.

This Schacht highwheeler is perfection from top to bottom. As reflected by winning the 1988 AACA Presidents Cup, I don't believe there is another Schacht that could surpass the quality, perfection and workmanship that was put into this vehicle.”
