1907-D $5 MS68 NGC. Ex: Sweet Collection. Tilted Mintmark. This coin has the mintmark tilted sharply to the left, with the upright of the mintmark nearly parallel to the left diagonal of the V in FIVE. The original mintage was 888,000 pieces, a rather significant amount for these coins. The Denver Mint only made examples of this denomination from 1906 through 1911. Of all the coins produced, this example is the best of the issue to survive, based upon its status as the sole MS68 coin at either NGC or PCGS. The surfaces are remarkable, with just a couple of tiny abrasions on each side that are only discernible with the aid of magnification. It has soft, shimmering luster, and lovely peach, steel-green, and rose-gold toning. It is sharply struck with nearly full design definition on both sides. This is a truly amazing example that will delight the connoisseur. Census: 1 in 68, 0 finer at either service (11/06).
From The James Paul Collection.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
