1907-D $20 MS66 NGC. The rose-gold coloration is enhanced by speckled accents of sunset-orange, and intense mint luster flashes from the bright surfaces. Generally well struck, except for slight flatness on the side of the eagle's head, this lovely Premium Gem is also impressively preserved, showing just a handful of trivial nicks on the lower obverse and a nearly blemish-free reverse. This issue is very popular with collectors, as it was the final Liberty Head double eagle delivery from the Denver Mint. Garrett and Guth (2006) note that a surprising number of Gems are known of this date. Premium Gems such as the present example are scarcer, however, and are infrequently seen at public auction. Census: 27 in 66, 3 finer (6/07).

Coin Engraver: James B.
