1907 $20 High Relief, Wire Rim MS64 PCGS. The year 2007 is the 100th anniversary of the premiere of the various Saint-Gaudens designs, and as such it might be an opportune time for some forthright bidder to nab this lovely near-Gem example of the High Relief issue. After all, the High Relief is the most affordable compromise between Saint-Gaudens' original artistic vision and the subsequent realities of "modern" coinage production. The wire rim on the present example is visible on the obverse from 8 o'clock moving clockwise to 4 o'clock, and on all of the reverse. Were it not for a couple of stray marks on Liberty's breast and torso, this piece might have merited a Gem grade, as it certainly has the eye appeal elsewhere. The fields are smooth and unperturbed, the strike is bold (of course), and the color is a beautiful yellow-gold with just a tinge of beige. A lot of coin for the grade.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
