1907 $20 High Relief, Wire Rim MS64 NGC. Many observers have called the Saint-Gaudens double eagle design the most beautiful in American numismatics, and noted gold coinage expert David Akers has referred to the High Relief coins of 1907 as the most beautiful pieces ever produced for normal circulation. This example is well struck with fine grain surface textures and a pleasing satiny sheen. The green-gold coloration shows lovely accents of rose in the obverse fields. Rim nicks located near 7 o'clock and 8 o'clock, respectively, on the obverse, may have been a consideration in the grade assessment, as any other surface flaws seem negligible, although a couple of trivial nicks are acknowledged on Liberty's lower right (facing) leg and lower abdomen, respectively. A gorgeous, high-end representative of this ever-popular issue, well known to even the most casual numismatist.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
