1907 $20 High Relief, Wire Rim MS63 PCGS. A lovely green-gold representative of this American gold classic. The obverse has a prominent wire rim that rises a couple of millimeters above the surface between 2 and 4 o'clock. The wire rim is also unbroken on the reverse, although it lacks the height seen on the right obverse. Satin luster gently sweeps the unperturbed fields. The devices rise in medal-like relief, with splendid definition on Liberty's fingers, nose, and raised knee. The eagle also has bold highpoint detail on the eagle's breast and the crest of the front wing. The possession of a high relief twenty separates the major collection from the usual date and mintmark assemblage. Karl Stecher, Sr. purchased this piece from the Guttag Bros. of New York during the 1930s. A Guttag Bros. envelope is included, noted "1907 Twenty Dollars Gold St. Gauden's Wire Edge Unc."
From The Stecher Collection.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
