The dished, three-dimensional appearance of this magnificent coin and the deep striking invariably creates an allure that is difficult to ignore. Saint-Gaudens' masterwork extends right down to the smallest details, such as the definition of Liberty's fingers that grasp the torch. One can actually make out the fingernails!
