1907<$20> High Relief, Flat Rim MS64 PCGS. Struck with at least three blows from the working dies on the Mint's medal press, as were all High Relief double eagles, this coin displays exquisite sharpness of definition over all features. It also exhibits a flat rim, a feature that differentiates it from most survivors of this issue, which display a wire rim. Approximately 3,000 High Relief double eagles were struck in late December 1907 with a flat rim to correct the previously-issued Wire Rim variants that were criticized by the public. The surface quality is truly extraordinary, and both sides retain their virtually blemish-free sheen even under close inspection with a loupe. Bright with dominant golden-honey color. the numerous, swirling striations in the fields are indicative of the issue. Some light stacking flatness is seen on Liberty's knee and breast, and the eagle's wing.
