1907 $10 Wire Rim MS63 NGC.
1907 $10 Wire Rim MS63 NGC. Jeff Garrett and Ron Guth, in their Encyclopedia of U.S. gold Coins, 1795-1933, write: "The 1907 Wire Rim, Periods eagles are the initial concept coins that most perfectly represent Augustus Saint-Gaudens' idea for this coin. These are the coins that are available to collectors. All examples were struck and given out to dignitaries and VIPs." Many examples of the 500-piece mintage were saved, and thus are obtainable for a price, which can be quite high, even in circulated grades.
The MS63 coin in this lot displays the knife-like rim (from whence the name of this issue stems) on most of the obverse, and on the reverse from about 8 o'clock to about 3 o'clock. Bright yellow-gold surfaces have a satin-like finish and exhibit well impressed design elements. Were it not for a couple of inoffensive contact marks on the obverse and luster grazes on the reverse, this piece would likely have achieved an even higher grade designation. In sum, a "flashy" ten dollar.
From The Dr. Eugene Cherny Collection of $5 and $10 Indians.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)

Important notice
