1907<$10> No Periods MS66 PCGS. Americans during the first decade of the 1900s got to see new circulating examples of Augustus Saint-Gaudens' eagle and double eagle designs. Some opted to save an example of the new eagle, a lesser sum but one that still represented more than a week's wages to many. As a result, 1907 No Periods eagles are available today in considerable numbers in the lower Mint State grades. Only in MS67 does the combined NGC/PCGS certified population (including resubmissions, of course) decrease from hundreds to a couple of dozen. The present example boasts scintillating luster over delectable copper-gold surfaces that are almost pristine and mark-free. A tiny grease strike-through, not affecting the grade, at the leftmost headdress feather is noted under a loupe. Population: 56 in 66, 6 finer (5/06).
