The back of the razor idnetifies the maker and the patent dates as Sept. 38, 1905 and Oct. 15, 1906. This safety razor has a clever means of "automatically" relasing the blade cover for replacing blades: from the locked position, you twist to unlock it and then push up on the base of the handle. The blade cover pops open. You twist again until the tiny button is locked in the open position. Replace the blade and then twist again to lock it in place. This razor has an original Cluass Automatic Safety Razor in it.
The box seems to be made cardboard covered in cloth (which can be seen where there is wear at the edges) covered by a faux leather paper. It has a bress snap. On the inside, embossed in gold print, is "The Automatic Razor"; the gold is faint. The bottom inside is a green vervet perch for the razor.
