1906-O 50C MS67 PCGS. A most remarkable and memora 1906-O 50C MS67 PCGS. A most remarkable and memorable example of this very date in Superb Gem grades. The strike is quite sharp for this date, with each obverse star bold and similarly sharp on the arrow feathers on the reverse. The upper right shield and adjoining wing are a trifle weak, as seen on most dates and mints of this period. The strike is certainly well above average for the date and Mint. Toned with faint pastel green, gold and blue, with the centers bright silver and lustrous, while the periphery sports the most toning on the obverse and reverse. Close examination finds virtually no signs of contact, and this coin is simply amazing in quality. The only identifying marks we found are a very minute tick near the top right of the D in GOD and a similarly tiny tick on Liberty's outer ribbon in a line from the upper inside point of the third star. We also note some very minor die rust on Liberty's neck, perhaps a result of the humid weather in New Orleans. Traces of a die crack are found through the peripheral lettering located on the ICA of AMERICA and AR of DOLLAR as well as NIT of UNITED and ST of STATES. Overall, this coin has abundant eye appeal and the toning is superb. The combined NGC and PCGS population reports show a scant 2 coins graded this high, and of course, none are graded higher. Simply stated, this particular specimen is almost certainly in the top two known, and would give the other MS67 coin a run for the money for Finest Known with the toning, sharp strike and superb surfaces. For the specialist, this sale presents many opportunities to tuck away several Finest Known and Condition Census pieces. It may be many years before another collection like this crosses the auction block, and given the quality offered, provides an opportunity which is not likely to be repeated anytime soon. The most difficult decisions will be which of these stunning Gems to pursue, as once they are gone, no amount of money will cause them to be offered again.

Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Since eBay bids are not shown to us until we open the lot on the floor, we treat those bids just like floor bids. In most cases the floor responds before the eBay bid is presented to us, due to Internet lag time, so for consistency we have made it a policy that floor bids are always considered first over tie eBay live bids. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid. This lot is being auctioned in conjunction with a live floor auction by Heritage Galleries & Auctioneers. All final auction and invoice information will be supplied by Heritage Galleries & Auctioneers, and all other information should be considered preliminary. Lot:4243
