1906-D<10C> MS66 PCGS. Breen-3555. Doubled 6. This is the first dime struck at the newly opened Denver Mint, in its first year of operation. This Mint had its beginning in the days of the Colorado gold discovery and the Clark, Gruber & Co. Bank and Mint. The Government purchased the property in 1863, but it remained idle until the new Mint building was erected just after the turn of the century. Since 1906, the Denver Mint has enjoyed nearly continuous operation for a full century. Buy this dime and start your collection of 1906 Denver Mint coinage to celebrate the centennial of this facility. A lustrous example with gold, lilac, and blue toning over satiny surfaces. The design features are sharply defined. Only a few tiny abrasions are visible on the surfaces. Population: 11 in 66, 2 finer (11/05).
From the Collection of Dr. Steven L. Duckor.
