1905-S 50C MS64 PCGS. Circulated 1905-S Barber Halves are as readily obtainable as those of the 1898-S, 1899-S, and 1900-S deliveries. In Mint State, however, the 1905-S (2.4 million pieces produced) is similar in rarity to the 1910-S, both of which are underrated. The present near-Gem is typically well struck for the issue with no areas of bothersome incompleteness of detail. Warm silver-gray patina envelops the obverse with whispers of olive color at the denticles, while the reverse is more evenly toned in apricot-gray shades. A few swirls of copper color are seen on the obverse at the 1 in the date and near star 2, and some electric-blue undertones adorn select areas around the reverse periphery. Population: 16 in 64, 8 finer (9/02). Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment.
