<B>1905 Philadelphia Athletics Souvenir Silk.</B></I> A quick examination of the delicate material from which this beautiful century-old artifact is fashioned will explain why just a tiny handful of these pieces survive to this day. And you'll find very few that can compete with this example in terms of condition. Most others are heavily frayed at the edges, but our example offers only scattered foxing (mainly within the borders) to announce its age. The 12x15" piece offers the same image on front and back, and was a giveaway from Wanamaker Sporting Goods Store in Philadelphia. The grand old man Connie Mack was only forty-two at the time of this image, and he looks quite dapper in his black suit, surrounded by the likes of Chief Bender, Rube Waddell and Eddie Plank. With vintage photography the hottest thing in the hobby right now, this photographic image on silk should really draw some attention.
