<B>1905 G$1 Lewis and Clark MS65 NGC.</B></I> The early U.S. gold commemoratives never seem to flag in popularity, especially in these days of strong gold prices. The recent upsurge in Lewis and Clark materials, aided by the new Jefferson nickel designs related to the Lewis and Clark expedition and the 2004 Lewis and Clark bicentennial silver dollars, has also increased interest for the 1904- and 1905-dated issues. Although both issues show similar mintages around 10,000 pieces, the 1905 is considerably rarer in Gem condition. The present piece offers lustrous green-gold surfaces with a pleasing halo or aura around both figures.
