<B>1905 $2 1/2 PR61 Cameo PCGS.</B></I> The quarter eagle saw a proof mintage of 144 pieces in 1905. PCGS and NGC, however, have certified several hundred examples, indicating a high number of resubmissions. On the other hand, fewer than 30 Cameo pieces have been graded. The PR61 Cameo presented in this lot displays a pronounced gold-on-black appearance when the coin is observed from directly above. The design elements are sharply impressed, and peach-gold patination shows occasional splashes of apricot. A few marks are seen on each side, with the most noticeable located in the left obverse field. Really a sharp coin for the PR61 grade designation.
