<B>1905 $2 1/2 MS67 NGC.</B></I> The 1905 quarter eagle, with a mintage of 217,800 business strikes, is a very common date for the series, with several thousand Mint State specimens having been certified by NGC and PCGS. Gems and Premium Gems are a bit challenging to locate, MS67 coins, such as the example in the current lot, are quite scarce, and anything finer is virtually unobtainable. Smooth yellow-gold surfaces are tinged with light green and exhibit dazzling luster. These attributes are complemented with well impressed design elements and the lack of mentionable contact marks.
