1904-S<S$1> MS64 PCGS. A typically struck, faintly toned, and highly lustrous better date Morgan Dollar. Both sides are lightly abraded, and only an occasional wispy luster graze is evident. The striking details are soft above Liberty's ear, and on the eagle's breast, as very slight golden-brown and green peripheral toning appears at the lower obverse and upper reverse borders. This attractive near-Gem is housed in a compact first-generation PCGS holder. With tens of millions of Silver Dollars stored unwanted in Treasury vaults, production of the denomination ceased after 1904, and did not resume until three years after the Pittman Act of 1918.
From The Ken Arnold Collection.
