1904-S 50C MS63 NGC. At the time that the book The Complete Guide to Barber Half Dollars went to press (1991), David Lawrence stated that the 1904-S "has the lowest certified population in MS." We do not know whether or not the verity of this statement still holds, but we do know that combined NGC and PCGS population for Uncirculated 1904-S Half Dollars is a tantalizingly low 27 coins (4/02). Frosty with uncommonly vibrant luster for the issue as well as the grade, the present example is tinged in delicate golden-gray shades. Every feature is at least adequately struck, and a few wispy obverse slidemarks are all that seem to separate this attractive coin from an even higher grade. We last offered a similarly graded '04-S Half as lot 7097 in our 1999 Chicago ANA Signature Sale. That coin, part of the Louis S. Joseph Collection, sold for $4,025.From the Ohio Collection. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
