1904<G$1> Lewis and Clark MS65 PCGS. From 1903 to 1926, the Philadelphia and San Francisco Mints produced commemorative gold dollars, quarter eagles, and $50 pieces. All of these pieces were produced in small numbers, including a total of 100,000 gold dollars (distributed among nine different issues), slightly more than 50,000 quarter eagles (two issues), and 1,128 large $50 pieces (two varieties). Among the gold dollar issues, the Lewis and Clark coins of 1904 and 1905 are the rarest pieces, especially in Gem grades. Both sides of this lovely Gem have satiny yellow-gold luster with faint surface marks that are consistent with the grade. It is a sharply struck specimen that will be welcomed by its new owner.
