1904 $5 PR63 PCGS. Garrett and Guth point out that this issue is the "rarest from 1900 to 1907" in proof, with the lowest population numbers and the fewest number of coins appearing at auction from the time period. They note, further, that many pieces of the issue entered circulation, as impaired proofs are not uncommon. This piece displays lovely orange-gold mellowing of the surfaces on each side, and while the surfaces appear perfect to this cataloger's eyes, under a 10x loupe minuscule signs of contact appear. It is nonetheless extremely appealing, and an elusive issue to boot. Population: 4 in 63, 17 finer (8/07).

Coin Engraver: Christian Gobrecht

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
