<B>1903-S $1 Small S XF45 PCGS.</B></I> VAM-2. A Top 100 Variety. Aside from the small, rounded S mintmark, other diagnostics for the variety are: a zigzag pattern of die polish lines to the left of the eagle's right (left facing) leg, and multiple horizontal lines in the bow opening. David Bowers (2005) calls this variety "Rare." Traces of luster reside in the protected areas of this medium intensity mauve-gray Choice XF specimen. The design elements display sharp detail.
