1903-O<10C> MS65 PCGS. The mintmark is tilted sharply to the left. Although most of the Eliasberg Barber Dimes were acquired directly from the various Mints at the time of issue, this is apparently an exception. A note in the catalog of that collection suggests that Clapp acquired two different examples, selling the one acquired from the Mint and keeping this example. The surfaces have remarkable lilac, steel, and gold toning over satiny luster. The obverse is a tad weak, but the reverse is boldly struck. The weak obverse strike is attributed in part to the late die state, with extensive die cracks. It is also typical of most products from the Louisiana facility. Population: 10 in 65, 2 finer (11/05).
Ex: J.M. Clapp, purchased circa 1903; Clapp Estate; Louis E.
