<B>1903 G$1 McKinley PR66 Ultra Cameo NGC.</B></I> Breen relates that the first 100 examples of this commemorative gold dollar type were brilliant proofs, including the present offering. About half that number survive today, in all grades, according to NGC and PCGS population data; not counting multiple submissions or coins that remain uncertified. This piece is currently the finest-graded of them all, and is the only specimen to be designated as Ultra Cameo by NGC (4/07). It is easy to see why, with majestically deep mirrors displayed in the fields, and lavish mint frost over the flawlessly struck devices. Tiny marks on the portrait of President McKinley, and wispy die polish lines above ONE on the upper reverse field are only visible with the aid of magnification.
