<B>1903 G$1 McKinley PR65 Cameo NGC.</B></I> "This is to certify that the accompanying Louisiana Purchase Exposition gold dollar struck at the Mint of the United States, Philadelphia, in accordance with an Act of Congress approved June 28th, 1902, is one of the first one hundred impressions from the McKinley dies."<BR> So read the card to which this gleaming piece once was attached, the special packaging made for the proof Jefferson and McKinley Louisiana Purchase pieces, limited to 100 specimens of each design. The waxed paper meant to protect the coins often led to thick haze that would obscure any contrast on the coin, but this glittering Gem has a strong cameo effect and carefully preserved yellow-gold surfaces. The bold strike shows details invisible on all but a handful of regular pieces, and the overall eye appeal is incredible. Light, scattered flaws are noted at the upper reverse, but the piece displays beautifully.
