<B>1903<G$1> Louisiana Purchase/McKinley PR64 Cameo PCGS.</B></I> It is reported that 100 proofs of each Louisiana Purchase Exposition gold dollar were coined and sealed with a piece of imprinted cardboard. These proofs are attractive pieces, as illustrated by this example, with bright yellow-gold surfaces and hints of greenish color. A single small copper spot is evident on the reverse. This example has deeply mirrored fields that exhibit faint hairlines, which have prevented a higher grade. The motifs on each side are exceptionally well detailed, much as Charles Barber intended when he prepared the design.
