<B>1903<G$1> Louisiana Purchase/Jefferson MS64 NGC.</B></I> As the president who oversaw the Louisiana Purchase, Jefferson was a logical choice for the obverse of this classic commemorative. (The other president, McKinley, was the most recent of the assassinated presidents, and his death still resonated with the public.) On this representative, the highly lustrous surfaces have elements of lemon-yellow and straw-gold. It is boldly detailed, though minor flaws behind Jefferson's head preclude a higher grade.
