1903 Edison Wax Cylinder Phonograph Standard
A circa 1903 (Last Patent date Nov. 17, 1903), Thomas A. Edison, Inc. East Orange N.J. "Standard" Cylinder Phonograph serial number "S 394434". This early Standard B has the locking mandrel gate and a "C" reproducer with sapphire stylus (seats snugly). Original gear shroud and feedscrew cover are in excellent condition. It is a 2-minute machine for playing 2-minute wax cylinder records. The machine is in fine state with a nice quarter-sawn oak veneer box-jointed case and lid with wood and bale handle with original finish. The original "Edison" transfer is on case front. The stenciled decoration on the ebonized metal bedplate has no enamel damage, corrosion, rust, etc. The machine operates well, has an original 15" long black with brass end horn (some scratches, no dents, no rust) and original crank.
