1903 50C MS65 ANACS. While this issue's original mintage of 2.2 million pieces is respectable for the type, Lawrence writes: "One of the real 'sleepers' in the series. Much tougher than its mintage indicates in all grades." We see no reason to disagree with this assessment, especially since the present example is the first Gem quality survivor that we have offered at auction since 1989. Originally toned, both sides are overlaid in tan-gray shades that appear to deepen toward the borders. The reverse periphery also exhibits concentric rings of crimson, orange-gold, and cobalt-blue colors. As befits a P-mint issue, the strike is pleasingly sharp, and there are no outwardly distracting bagmarks. One would be wise to take full advantage of the bidding opportunity that this Gem Uncirculated 1903 Half Dollar represents. From the Ohio Collection. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
