1902 1C PR68 Red PCGS. The proof Indian cent series, while eminently collectible in near-Gem and even Gem grades, poses a significant challenge any finer. Examples in PR66 with any color designation appear sporadically, and a move to Superb Gem only exacerbates this trend. Moving to an even more rarefied stratum, PCGS has awarded just nine Indian cents across all dates a PR68 grade, with the majority of them Red and Brown. This representative is one of only two pieces certified by PCGS as PR68 Red; coincidentally, both are from 1902 (10/07).
A specimen of extraordinary quality, this lovely early 20th century piece offers exquisite detail and gleaming fields. The surfaces, predominantly copper-orange with a hint of emerald, are virtually unimprovable; even under magnification, the coin's preservation borders on flawless. Captivating and spectacular, an incredible prize for the series enthusiast.

Coin Engraver: James B.
