1902, $10 National Bank Note The First NB, La Habra, CA
1902, $10 National Bank Note. The First NB, La Habra, CA. PCGS Very Good 10. . Fr-633. Another great rarity from this Orange County collection, this is one of only two notes known from this bank, La Habra's only issuer. This offering marks only the fourth time in sixty-five years that collectors have had the opportunity to add a note from here to their holdings. This example first came to light in CAA's October, 1995 sale, where Lowell Horwedel obtained it at a then enormous price of $4,125. William Pannier was the winning bidder at the sale of Lowell's collection in 2004 at a whopping bid of $11,500. The only other example known is the Colver specimen, which sold in his 1999 sale for $5,225. With that piece now ensconced in a major long term holding, this will likely be the last opportunity for many years for any collector to own a note from this much sought after Orange County location. A nice solid Very Good-Fine, with clear signatures, a trophy note certain to inspire spirited bidding before it goes home to a new proud owner.
Estimated Value $7,000 - 10,000.

Provenance: The William Pannier Estate.
