1901-S 25C Fair 2 PCGS. David Lawrence, in his Barber quarter reference book (1994), calls the 1901-S "the king of all Barber coinage with a low mintage and low survivorship." This Fair 2 example displays light gray color that darkens slightly in the areas around the devices. The central motifs are fully outlined (save for the eagle's wing tips), and display just a touch or two of faint internal detail (portions of Liberty's eye and ear, and some shield outline). The date, mintmark, IN GOD WE TRUST, and a few stars on each side are clear, though most of the remaining peripheral elements are worn smooth. No significant abrasions are apparent. Basically, this key-date example exhibits just honest wear. Once encapsulated in an ANACS "FAIR" holder, that is included with the lot.

Coin Engraver: Charles E.
