1901-S $20 MS64 PCGS. According to Michael Fuljenz and Douglas Winter (2000): "The level of eye appeal (of the 1901-S double eagle) is slightly below average ... ." They contend that this is because: "The surfaces are nearly always noticeably abraded and may also have some dark spots in the metal." The MS64 example in this lot exhibits some minute marks, especially on the obverse, but they are well within the parameters of the grade designation, and surface spotting is completely absent. Pleasing luster enlivens each side, and peach-gold patina is tinted with hints of light green. The design elements are exceptionally well delineated for an issue that is often found weakly struck.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
