1901-O 50C MS65 NGC. David Lawrence writes in his Complete Guide to Barber Halves that the 1901-O is" "Scarce above VG. Edwards regarded this as the second toughest date in the series in Gem fully struck condition." And Kevin Flynn, in his The Authoritative Reference on Barber Half Dollars, says of the 1909: " The O-mint halves are very scarce in circulated grades and difficult in mint state." In this regard, NGC and PCGS have seen only about 85 examples in all grades.
Sparkling luster adorns both sides of this lovely Gem, and satiny-like surfaces are devoid of significant marks. Except for some softness in a couple of the star centers and on Liberty's lips, the obverse elements are well struck. Strike sharpness is also visible on most of the reverse, save for weakness in the eagle's neck feathers, on the upper right corner of the shield and the adjacent wing feathers. The 1901-O is typically poorly struck throughout.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
