1901 Morgan $1 PCGS MS63
1901 Morgan Dollar. PCGS graded MS63. Velvety to satin-like fields almost stagger under the weight of the light to medium gray and smoke-gray silver color of this refreshingly original looking silver dollar. Mostly well struck on the legends and main device, with just a touch of weakness at the centers. There are two or three tiny marks on the face to the left of the ear, and several others (equally minor) in the fields. For some reason, most surviving Mint State 1901 P-mint dollars seem as though they were made from weakened or old dies. Why that should be has never been explained, but the coins are very scarce in choice condition.

Some of the events of 1901, the year of this silver dollar, include the following: awarding of the first Nobel Prize, the first trans-Atlantic radio signal, death of Queen Victoria of England, and the assassination of U.S. President William McKinley.
