<B>1901 Grover Cleveland Autograph Letter Signed</B></I> “<I>Grover Cleveland</B></I>”. One page, 4.5” x 7”, December 12, 1901, in ink, to Arthur T. Abernathy. Grover Cleveland (1837-1908), 24th President of the United States, responds to Arthur Abernathy's application for a job as his secretary. It reads in part: “<I>In reply to your letter of Nov 31st I have to say that while I am severely taxed by letters written to me, I cannot afford to employ a secretary and must struggle with them as best I can.</B></I>” Cleveland was well into retirement by this time at his manor in Princeton, New Jersey. The letter has the usual fold marks, else in very good condition. <I>From the collection of Henry E.
