1901 $1 MS62 PCGS. Both Miller and Bowers single out the 1896-O and 1901 Morgan dollars for their various problems. However, the present example shows good luster and color, despite the remains of a old fingerprint to the left of Liberty, in the russet-gold patina. There is no trace of wear, but the strike is typical for the issue, and the reverse shows a pebbly texture under a loupe, the result of die erosion. A few visible abrasions on Liberty's cheek and the eagle's breast confirm the grade. This piece is nonetheless a nicer piece than the technical description would indicate.

Coin Engraver: George T.
