<B>1901 $1 MS62 PCGS.</B></I> Only two years separate the 1899 from the 1901, yet the low mintage 1899 is plentiful in Mint State, while the high mintage 1901 is rare in Uncirculated grades. Such inconsistencies are frequent within the Morgan dollar series, since the status of an issue depended on its distribution pattern as much as its original mintage. The present example is lustrous and friction-free, and has only a hint of toning.
