<B>1901 $1 Doubled Die Reverse AU50 NGC.</B></I> VAM-3. A Top 100 Variety. Finding an attractive, better-grade 1901 Morgan dollar is a challenge in itself, and trying to procure a representative of the VAM-3 only compounds the difficulty. This well struck piece shows light highpoint wear that leaves the luster of the fields remarkably intact. The surfaces are mainly silver-gray and silver-blue with dots of deeper patina to the left of the eagle. The tailfeathers are plainly doubled to the unaided eye, and under magnification, other design elements show shifts as well.
