<td width="100%">
this is an early 1900's ceiling light fixture. The ceramic ceiling attachment and glass shade are original to the piece as far as I can determine. I have re-wired the piece with period type wiring to make it safe for use. This is the type of fixture that was in use when old houses were being converted to electricity, it was designed to be attached to the ceiling and have surface wiring connected to it. It uses a pull chain switch to turn it on and off. An excellent piece for an old house restoration project. The lamp shade is 12"x12" and it hangs by its wiring (as original) about 18" from the ceiling. The lamp socket had to be replaced with a reproduction because of the deteriated condition of the original lamp socket.
