1900 U.S. $10,000 GOLD CERTIFICATE. Serial No. K16291. Stamped to the order of Fourth Street National Bank in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 2, 1912. Shows punch marks. Certificate comes with letter dated September 18, 1947 from the U.S. Treasury Department to the Chief Clerk at the General Accounting Office. The letter is in reference to the General Accounting Office "transmitting cancelled order gold certificates returned to the Treasury after the fire several years ago in the building where such certificates were stored". Gold certificate No. M98122 (not included with the lot) was originally transmitted to the General Accounting Office for proper disposition.
