1900-O/CC<S$1> MS64 PCGS. VAM-11. Almost fully brilliant surfaces with some splashes of deep toning by PLURIBUS. Virtually all the design features show bold definition. Traces of a faint CC can clearly be seen beneath the O mintmark. Walter Breen in his Encyclopedia reports that a group of Carson City Mint dollar reverse dies were returned to the Philadelphia Mint where they were re-mintmarked for use in New Orleans. Coinage operations had been suspended at Carson City in 1893, but were still robust at the New Orleans Mint at that time; indeed, the production of silver dollars in New Orleans for 1900 was an impressive 12,590,000 pieces. Overmintmark varieties have long been popular with collectors, and in the Morgan series there are few to be had.
