1900-O/CC $1 MS66 PCGS. VAM-11. A Top 100 Variety. According to Breen, several reverse working dies were found during the removal of furnishings from the Carson City Assay Office, which was previously the Carson City Mint. The dies were shipped to the Philadelphia Mint where they were modified for production of 1900 O-mint Morgan dollars. Variety specialists now believe that no fewer than seven reverse dies were overmintmarked for the 1900-O production, all of which show remnants of the original CC mintmark. While relatively easy to locate in lower grades, the O/CC is quite a challenge in the better Mint State grades. This is a brilliant coin that exhibits dazzling, satiny mint luster. Fully struck in the centers, and free from any annoying abrasions.
