1900 Lesher Referendum Dollar, A.B. Bumstead MS62 NGC. HK-789, Zerbe-3, No. 980. Lesher was a proponent of the free and unlimited coinage of silver. He was able to sell the first 100 examples of his Referendum Dollar at their face value of $1.25. Unable to redeem them himself, he arranged with various merchants, especially the grocer A.B. Bumstead, to accept the pieces in his store in exchange for merchandise. This well centered piece is well detailed with moderate patina overall and just a few inconsequential marks. For identification purposes, a tiny attempted puncture is seen near the upper left obverse rim. Listed on page 373 of the 2006 Guide Book.
